VIDEO: MINI laps entire Nurburgring on two wheels

Small hatch proves itself the slowest thing on two wheels with 28km/h average speed

MINI has inadvertently set a new lap record at the Nurburgring with a time of 45 minutes after stunt driver, Han Yue, completed an entire lap -- from Bridge to Gantry -- on just two wheels.

Driving the current MINI Cooper S, Yue Completed an entire lap balanced on two wheels. The event was live-streamed on social media but passed without any obvious dramas.

Behind the wheel it was a different story though. Early on Yue accidentally overheated and flat-spotted a rear tyre, causing a nasty vibration that reduced the average speed of the lap to an excruciatingly slow 28km/h.

"It was the back tyre. At the start of the lap I got a very strong vibration that has never happened before. It only happened over 20km/h, but it got worse when I drove faster. So this lap was a lot slower than I liked and that makes it much more difficult. My shoulder was hurting by 6km -- with 15km still to go", said the Chinese stunt driver.

The MINI performing the stunt was claimed to be stock save a welded differential, rollcage and solid rubber front tyres that had reinforced sidewalls.
