
Enlisting ten designers, as well as influencers and friends of the brand, Mercedes-Benz has created ten one-off pedal cars for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney (MBFF).
The mini versions of the brand’s classic 300 SL model have been designed and decorated by several celebrities including international supermodel Coco Rocha and superstar Aussie singer Cody Simpson.
Other designers include Lindy and Michael Klim, as well as fashion labels Manning Cartel, We Are Handsome, Johanna Johnson and By Johnny.
Many of the designers and contributors will come together with their pedal cars on the opening day of MBFFSydney at the city’s iconic Town Hall, where the pedal cars will also be showcased for the duration of the festival.
Horst von Sanden, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific, said that the initiative not only combined the worlds of cars and fashion, but also is helping to support at great cause.
“The Pedal Car Initiative is a great way of pulling together some of the world’s greatest fashion minds, in support of a wonderful cause,” he said.
“The demands on cars and fashion are similar, with a focus on both innovation and design… Integrating Australia’s fashion authorities in our Pedal Car initiative is a creative way to raise awareness for our charity partner, Brainwave Australia,” he added.
Following the festival the pedal cars are to be auctioned off on eBay in support of Mercedes-Benz’s official charity partner, Brainwave Australia.
Brainwave Australia assists and provides emotional support to children with neurological conditions and their families.
Brainwave helps children with rehabilitation therapies and mobility equipment to help the children and their families manage the challenges they are face with every day.
Chairman of Brainwave, David Blackley said “it means a great deal to us to be supported by Mercedes-Benz and the wider fashion community.”
The funds raised from the sale of the pedal car fleet will aid in improving the quality of life for children with neurological conditions.
