Motorsport and off-road tuners rejoice: Mopar Australia has announced the limited availability of two HEMI V8 crate engines via local Jeep dealerships, but they won’t come cheap.
The first is one of the world’s most powerful production engines: the 6.2-litre supercharged ‘Hellcat’ V8 that powered the previous-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat muscle cars not sold in Australia.
Chrysler’s short-stroke 6.2-litre ‘Hellcrate’ V8 produces a mammoth 527kW of power and 881Nm of torque, and made the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk the world’s quickest and most powerful SUV when it was launched in 2018.
But the bad news it will cost you $29,000 plus GST.
The second is Mopar’s naturally-aspirated 6.4-litre Apache V8 – also known as the HEMI 392 since it displaces no less than 392 cubic inches – which powered the discontinued Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Chrysler 300 SRT.

The big-bore HEMI V8 generates 361kW/644Nm and will set you back ‘just’ $16,000 plus GST at your local Jeep dealer.
Bother HEMI V8 crate engines come complete with the water pump, front sump oil pan, intake manifold with throttle body, fuel-injectors and coil packs.
Limited stocks of both engines are now available to order at Jeep Australia dealerships, where enquiries should reference bulletin number 201-2024-ASP.
A number of other performance components are officially available in Australia from Mopar, the genuine parts and accessories brand for Stellantis brands including Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler.
First appearing in 1937 on a range of anti-freeze products but popularised in the 1960s in the US, the Mopar brand name is a simple combination of the words MOtor and PARts.
